I've been having an issue with my monte's ventilation. Ever since i put the new motor in, i only ever get hot air blowing through the vents. Even when i have the blower on "cold" hot air still comes out. This sucks in the summer! I'm wondering if it has to do with the way i hooked up the vacuum lines to the new carb?

I dont think vacuum controls the blend doors, it is operated by a cable. Check to see if it is still connected and not binding.

plenty of times that blend door gets stuck you probally find leaves and everything else in the way, i would remove the box and clean and lube everything, check all your vaccum lines and make sure you eveporator gets cold

Is it the same set-up as a 1982 Regal? if it is mine did the same thing and there was a purple vacuum hose that I had to hook up and it has been fine since then.

antoher question....how does the heater process work? i notice there is a lil coil by blower that gets a plug in adapter, then the blower itself has a plug in. how does the heater core play a role in all this? stupid questions probably but I can't figure it out

ok your heat comes from the heater core, as im sure you know, if you take of the top cover of your a/c box you'll see the heater core and a door that's mechanicaly operated by the lever in your car, you slide it towards heat and the door opens into the box air stream, when you close it it isolates the heater core so you would only get cold or ambient air temp blowing. Also that purple line is for your vent controls you should have an off white one to. but im gussing that your door isn't operational or stuck half way open, keep in mind with no a/c it will blow hot air if its hot outside...90 degrees outside your blowing atleast 85 degrees inside

Vaccum line routing

I am putting my box together also and am curious on how to hook the vaccum lines back up. Am I right to assume that the purple line goes to that vaccum operated door under the vents behing the heater box and the white line is for manifold vaccum? If I removed all the ac stuff I do not need that vaccum ball right? Thanks for the help

I don't have the ball on my car. I only have the purple line to constant vacuum and they gray/white one capped off. I can adjust from floor to vents to dash. The gray/white ling is for A/C and closes that door to block off the heater core when the A/C is in use.
