Shift Kits and Trans Life

There are two different Trans-go kits. The less expensive one (SK2004r)fixes a lot of the common complaints in the day to day operation. 2004r-HD2 is the reprogram kit that really gets things poppin'. A note from me. I found the instructions in the SK kit a little difficult to follow. Who ever writes the copy is very "wordy" and you really need to go through them in order to be clear. (or at least I did)

307 Regal let us know how it goes. You have me condidering installing a shift kit in my Regal.

hey i have read all of you guys input about the Shift Kit for his Regal and i have a few questions now...Let me start off sayin i own a 84 Cutlass Supreme w/ a 307..not too sure if the trans is a th200-r4 or a th350 are their any ways i can figure this out..also will he same shift kit you guys said for he regal be good for my cutlass...it is my daily driver but at the same time when i step on the gas it wil need to go..and i like to burn rubber with no brakes so will the rough shift be a good idea ?

Sure thing, but it won't be happening until spring/early summer. Hopefully I'll have a job by then too.. 😳
I've got the money to do the shift kit now, but if something goes wrong (somehow) I won't have the cash for any major repairs, so I'd like to be employed first.

Well the first thing you can check is the number of forward drive gears. If it's an original 4-speed then it's a probably 200-4R. If it's a 3 speed, then it's more than likely a TH350. My Regal has the same drivetrain as an '87 Cutlass from the factory so I'd assume that anything that works on my Regal would work on a Cutlass.

oh ok yeh its a 3 speed...i remember when i brought it i was looking for a 4th gear to kick but the 3 was giving a rs iroc problems already...now that i kno its a th350 what kind of shifter would be good floor shifter to work with a shift kit

The only aftermarket 3-speed shifter I've ever touched was a Hurst Quarter Stick and the trans it was shifting had a shift kit in it also. It wasn't the best maintained car in the world so I can't say if it was good or bad quality. I can say that it got the job done though.

im looking at the hurst v-matic 2 shifter ..it looks just like the b&m shifter so i might just grab that shifter with a shift kit..
do you have an posi on your car ?

(in case you were asking me instead of lil89ram50, no i don't have one.)
