slow *ss windows

We recently had the same issues on my buddy's SS. we removed the panels, removed the regulator and motor cleaned and lubed up the regulator and replaced the motor. Really made a difference!! They roll up twice as fast as my GP's. Now i gotta do mine. :?

hmm i never thought about a broken roller/slider, but the passenger one is pretty slow too so i figured maybe someone before me just put a weaker fuse in cuz thats all they had. either way it looks like im pulling atleast one panel to see whats up. my guess is either the little brush that keeps pressure on it is improperly adjusted, or theres glue for track grease. if it has to come off, it has to come off :blam:

I'd say that if BOTH windows were slow up and down it could be electrical. I've got the mother-of-all alternators and it is rated at 145 amps so I think my problem is grease/rollers on both sides of the car.

I'll have to open up the door skins and see.

same dude, mine charges at 14.6 and doesnt even dimm the lights or anything when i turn everything on thats possible to turn on. theres definately lots of juice. door skin removal sucks any way you look at it tho lol

My error, I meant circuit breaker, not relay. 😳 The ground wire comes off the master switch assembly, and would affect both windows if it's crusty.

lol it happens man!! by master control switch do you mean the 2 switches in the drivers side door?

Yes, the one that controls both windows. Look for a black wire. But I would definitely look inside the doors for what the others said, lack of lube, worn/broken parts, etc.

well funny thing is they were working fine but slow, then all of a sudden they got "stuck" in 2 spots trying to roll them up..day later they're back to "normal" which is slow as sh*t. 8 seconds to come up as a matter of fact. which made me realize maybe thats not soo bad...but it is slower than i think it should be. so long story short im pretty sure its gonna be something binding somewhere and ill have to remove the doorskin. hopefully its just thick grease and nothing broken.

I think you are expecting too much from these old design GM windows. Even new I wouldn't consider them "fast" especially compared to modern designs. My 77' Firebird has slow-as-sh*t windows too, and even quits altogether at times, and I made sure they were lubed and not binding anywhere. I suspect the relay but it's way up behind the dash and a b*tch to get at so it waits for attention.

do you figure the relay wears out or something? i thought they were like an ol lady...they either work... or they dont.
