A relay gets tired when the contacts get crusty. Ages ago we used to file them and get more life out of them, but theses days they are the sealed/throwaway type.

but i dont have one in the cutlass right? still check the ground wires?

Right, you have a circuit breaker. Check the ground at the master switch, and if yours is on the door there is a chance water got at it from bad window seals. I had a Buick that the water shields in the door were missing and the wind blew water everywhere, and rusting the door-mounted window/door lock switch.

huh, makes sense. if i remember correctly i should be able to just pop that switch out of the door skin with a screw-driver instead of taking the whole skin off. if thats the case ill check it out next time im in it. thanx man!
