"""""Crankshaft Depot billet steel main caps girdles are manufactured of 5140 medium carbon steel finished with CNC machine center.

Our billet steel main cap girdles are designed for reinforcement of OEM main caps to muscle up the block for higher engine horsepower and RPM.

The 1/2 inch heavy billet steel main girdle absorb the impact force from cylinder explosion and evenly distribute them throughout the block.""""

For 50$ ?!?!?!?!?!?!

Sounds too good to be true, what you pay for is usually what you get but 50$ compared to what everybody else wants for one.... What do you guys think? Has anybody ever picked up one on of these cheap units?

Gotta love google..

here's some quotes from that tpoic

"I picked one up out of curiosity. It is a CAT product. If the steel is what they say, it's plenty strong. The surface finish is horendous. I have not had a chance to put it on a surface grinder yet, but my guess is that it's going to take .050" to clean up one side and .070" off the other. Of course you only need the cap side flat, but if they are all like this, count on spending another $20-$25 to get it ground flat. I'm going to go one thumb down on this. I consider the studs to be throw away. I'd never trust them"

"The machine shop I use said they tried to install a customer-supplied CAT girdle on a 302 Ford. They said they had difficulty getting consistent torque on the studs, and then they noticed the 5140 Chineseum was extruding out around the washers. They called Ford Racing and told them about the problem and were told that everybody who has ever bought the CAT girdle has ended up calling them to buy the Ford Racing girdle because the Chineseum part is too soft.

J&S has a 1/4" girdle that uses normal studs after you cut the caps, or they have 3/8" and 1/2" girdles that require special studs. The 7/16" CAT girdle sounds thick enough, but if the machining is so bad that you need to cut 1/8" off it..."

Enough said, steer clear of the cheapos.

That's good old made in china stuff! Buying this crap just doesnt do any good, doesnt save you money either because when this china made stuff breaks you go out and buy the real one and it ends up with the part working and with you who just wasted money. I learned this lesson buying a throttle bracket that made the throttle stick. The part made its way into the trash bin broken in half and I bought the real one from holley and never looked back.

That's my and pretty much everyone else's take on this ebay/china junk.
