'F41' - It seems GM is not content to label their their optional suspension system package HEAVY DUTY or TRAILER TOWING PACKAGE like other manufacturers. The enigmatic F41 sounds like, what, a fighter jet ? It has a cache with them, my '84 Camino has it as well. While I don't know how my ride compares with a Celebrity, I do know that the Motor City is a great proving ground for ride quality and front end part's durability. Potholes are available for testing at different speeds, shake, rattle and keep rolling. As I remember, an insurance co. once stated that even though no safety inspections are required as in other states, they found no more accidents a result of defective equipment than states that have mandatory inspections. One reason is that Detroit laid out it's roads to accommodate any future loading of traffic volume, and the roads are wide, straight, and now, depopulated. Michiganders bridal at regulations that infringe on their independence, and like to take responsibility onto themselves. Now, for some other factors perhaps in play. If you have not lived in Detroit, as I once did (2-3 years}, you may not know the delight of buying a readily available new whoopty for only 250.00 to 500.00, turn key and ready to go. If safety inspections were to be started, the supply of whoopty rides would dry up, and then, pray tell ,how would they get to their jobs ,....or..for some, the 'package store' ?! I'm not dissing Detroit, I got off on the frontier atmosphere it has while there ,and hope there are still enough young people with a pioneer spirit to start bringing it back. There's opportunity there, unless/ if/ when it turns on you, then it's time to vamoose, and go back to whatever ##%* place you came from.
Lived there (Sterling Heights actually) for 18 years, job brought me to my present TX residence. Yup always had a "winter" car. Good heater, strong battery and wipers that worked. Had a 76 Old Calais light yellow that I purchased for 125 bucks used for almost 10 winters and took it to the junkyard where they gave me 125! The door skins were gone at the bottom and a highway speed they would flap in the wind. Rear 1/4 pockets were non-existent as well as the upper rear wheel wells. But it allowed me to keep my SS in the garage during winter. I still have that SS as a total off frame resto. I got the Olds as a "Southern" car from Toledo!
