Anybody know of an on-line source for replacement front control arm bolts for G-bodies? My local Chevy dealer has tp order them, so I have to go there and pay first, then wait for them and then go pick them up. I've searched the web but haven't found them yet. I think later S-10 parts are the same as my '87 Grand Prix. Hate to buy them if not.

Thanks,

Walt

do you mean the A arm mounting studs?
if so i know http://www.scandc.com sells the A arm mounting studs. i bought them when i got my suspension package. it replaces the stock studs with larger ones it was like $50 extra. you might be able to ask them if you can buy just the studs/bolts

I was looking for the bolts that go through the upper control arm shaft, 2 each side. I found a local Pontiac dealer who ordered them for me without me driving there to pay first. The lower control arm bolts are discontinued. I'll go to my local fastener supply house to find those.

I checked when I was replacing the bushings in my lower control arms this past summer and could order the bolts straight from the GM dealer..

How bad of shape are they in? I talked to an engineer that works for a fastener manufacturer. According to him, as long as the threads are not damaged (corrosion or stripped), the "stover lock" feature should be ok to reuse up to about 4-5 times. Mine were still in good shape and I re-used them. I had a hard time finding the correct metric versions (Grade 10.9 - M12x1.75...lengths were 95 and 110mm??)

1/2" are too big. 7/16 have some slop in them.

G-Body Front Upper Control Arm Bolts

G-Body cars use the same control arm bolts, brake system, steering system as S-10 trucks. G-Bodies also use similar parts as an 82 n on up F-Body car.(rear control arms, steering gear & brakes. Also, you can install a 68-72 Nova steering gear on a G-Body. The 2 upper bolts line right up & you just have to make a bracket for the lower hole to frame. Good luck. 😀
