I want to upgrade my factory speakers in my Cutlass with aftermarket ones and was wondering what ones people would suggest. I want to run 3.5" speakers in the dash and change the rears to 6x9's. Of course I want good sounding speakers but it is also important that the interior still looks completely stock so I don't want to cut holes in the dash grilles or the rear deck. So what are you guys running that sound good and fit well (I don't mind a little modification as long as it's not noticeable)? Thanks in advance.

I use the infinity reference 3.5's in the front and kenwood 4x10's in the rear, you have to get an adapter to put the 6x9's in the rear package tray area, and they would hang down a little more so I decided on the stock size for the rear. I like the sound though way better then stock🙂

I always go with rickford fosgate. great price and more than worth what you pay for. The in person suppliers are harder to find so I go with kenwood becuase Future Shop carries them and easier to get. there is a sale on 6x9 kenwoods for under 150 and I believe they are 3 way. I find the best qality goes

Kenwood

Just my view but i find stuff like JL and JBL you pay more for the name than the product is actually worth.

What about infinity kappa there great speakers.

How was the fit on the infinity's? I was kind of looking at them and some polk audio 3.5's that I hear some people are running.

i made these for another cutlass i had when i was 16 and broke they sounded great but when i junked the car i forget them on :blam: they had crossovers!

now i have 6x9 pioneers made for fords and mazadas

it wasn't hard to fit the infinity's i think the mounting tabs i had to bend a little to set the speaker down a little more so the cover would go back over. they sound pretty good, not much for bass but a good tweeter.. the sub takes care of the bass🙂

I used to run a pair of JBL GTO series 3.5" front speakers with bass blockers and a pair of Pioneer 4-way 6x9's in the rear and it sounded okay.

Used these 6x9 to 4x10 adapters like these:

Depending on the speaker you get and if your trunk lid uses the criss-crossing support rods the magnets may hit slightly. Mine did with the pioneers but wasn't too bad and never did any harm.
