Ok to get you guys up to speed I'm going to have to take a step back to when I purchased those parts earlier in the week. Not only did I purchase parts that night I also purchased myself a very nice world war ii-era swiveling vice with a stand. Stan's kind of cheesy but the vice was definitely worth its salt today!
So yesterday I rough cut the root out of the rear box with the plasma cutter and cut apart my home made differential housing spreader for the C-channel and cleaned it up to be welded in. Then last night I went and met a guy that buys storage auctions out in Southwest Jersey. He had a brand new set of 50 ft welding leads aw1 with lc40 connectors. I needed him so I paid up still a good deal but two hundred bucks. And he through in a tote full of miscellaneous welding rods. so all day today has been grueling and tedious cutting grinding welding cutting grinding welding. still not done with that particular project but I've got it far enough and I've actually got the crain on the truck it's not just a stripper pole anymore.
I feel I should have gotten a lot more work done but really it's the experience using all the new equipment together that's paying off for me because I've got to be able to make it look like I've been using it forever.
Some of what I've done is probably Overkill but at least I know it won't rip off the truck
There was one small casualty I kind of let my reverse light on fire lol
there's still quite a bit of finish welding and grinding to do and it's definitely got to be seam sealed and painted but it's just about there and it was there enough that I could put the crane on top
