Yes surprisingly good considering it's a rebuild year for the band. They actually let 7th and 8th graders in this year because they didn't have kids to fill instrument positions due to last year's graduation. Laurens actually in 8th grade.
Wow, only in 8th grade. I guess my girls were nearly grown up at that age too. Not me, I was 5'3" and 91 pounds. I am now 5'11.5", already lost a 1/4" and 230 pounds. I took after Mom's side, slow maturity and fell right in the middle for height of my Uncles.
Last night wasn't a fruitful one. I got discussed and didn't take pictures sorry. The box from my brother contained a lot of stuff I already bought valve covers gaskets a aluminum SFI balancer 2 camshafts the specks on one are very close to what I bought but I'll just put it all in stock for the future. Now as for my setbacks. When I was ordering parts I didn't take into consideration that GM didn't use 5/8 tapered plugs in 1965-1966 when the heads I have were made, so the 454 plugs I bought on clearance from rockauto don't fit and those nice new wires won't work with headers eather. On my previous visit I spent about an hour f-ing with the Steele fuel line that goes from the pump to the carb... Well I filled the pan with oil and cranked it to build oil pressure and the crack in the line that I didn't see filled my sneakers with VP fuel but that's when I noticed the oil pressure blowing out of a broken sensor I never removed from the block. I had purchased an adapter to install the run stand oil pressure gauge but it didn't fit so it didn't happen and I just plugged the hole. Then I figured I'd just run the plug wires and have it ready for when I got plugs. That's when I realized I bought the wires before I had headers... Straight boots won't work! Then i remembered someone gave me a nose set of TaylorMade wires when I was doing the 78 Cutlass and they were in the parts bin on my truck! I found them in there 1980s yellow splendor and they have 45° plug boots! However no her boots in the box. It's not like nothing got done it has a dipstick now and it's mounted. Most importantly I learned a few things.
Tomorrow night back at it!
I mad some progress Eric was there with me tonight and it turns out he had everything I needed there I just didn't know where it was. Anyway it's got a fuel line the temp gauge is hooked up we found the fitting for the oil gauge and located wire ends for the antique taylormade's
Should be making noise next time I'm out there. I also took the liberty of using one of the other motors there into my pulley and bracket guinea pig. Still can't figure it out
I would put on some quality paint on those headers inside and out. Especially if any winter driving is planned. I painted a set of Sanderson shorty headers with VHT inside and out on the Olds powered 4x4 and just touched up every year. They looked pretty good, would have lasted a long time.
I made progress today. It's been a long day and I'm tired so I may forget some of what I did. I got a late start because I went to a car show and swap meet with my brother this morning. Didn't finde anything I needed but it wasn't a bad morning. Then I went back to the shop and started in using the burnt motor for accessory mock-up once I figured out what I thought would work I turned my attention to the oil pressure line and hooked it up. My first attempt wouldn't work for me
So I made another attempt with different brackets and I think it's a better fit for a truck. Then I spent hours cleaning all this junk! And bolting it on my motor.
Unfortunately it's still not right they don't line up. But Eric sent me a picture of a motor I can go take parts off of tomorrow
Take note it has A/C!! So whatever I can afford off that thing brackets pulleys bolts nuts hardware whatever I can get is going on mine because it's a matching set! So with all that done I wanted to see about oil pressure and hit the key on the run stand. 60 psi cranking off the starter so that should be fine. The other day the left side exhaust fell off and I rigged that back on temporary with some wire lol I'll make it better when the new headers are in. Something good came from that though.
The truck fits in the shop!!!!
How many blade fan is currently on your truck? If that 7 blade fan is useable, use it. The pitch is the opposite on a serpentine fan. I found that out when using an Olds 7 blade fan on my 94 Z71 the short time I had the serpentine on the Olds 350. The fan started making noise and actually had a few rivets come apart. Makes sense, it was designed to turn the opposite way.
