I happened to get a call saturday night from a friend that had gotten a 84 monte carlo all original 1 owner given to him. He called me up and ask me to come check it out and see if I would be intrested in it cause it's my type of car. He does not know what he has and the car is just about immaculate inside n out. The car has been sitting for about 10 year's from when the plate expired last it does run but was parked do to a bad transmission Now qoute me the car has never been touch and has all record's of all work done to it. I looked at the trans and it's a 200r4 I didn't think they came stock in 84 but I was wrong. Its the end of the year production car Any info on what this car is worth... THANX

Check NADA, not that it's always 100% accurate, but it should give you a ballpark figure.
Usually an '84 Monte SS would come with a TH350C lock-up, and not a 200-4R...but anything is possible. I would look under the rear seat and see if there's a build sheet present.
I definitely would jump on it and have that 200-4R gone over.
I would also be curious as to what gear ratio is in it...3.42 or 3.73.

If it did come with the 200r4 then you got lucky cause a few at the end of the year they did put out a couple with that transmission.... I was curious about this also a while back and after doin some searching on the net... via mcss.com wikipidia and a few other sites they did throw a few of those trannys in the ss at the end of 84... does it make it worth more I'm not sure....

Check the service parts ID label on the bottom side of the trunklid. If its there, it should list the VIN for the car (the VIN should match the one on the dash) and it should list all of the RPO codes for the car. I have an '84 Monte SS that has the 350C in it, and the RPO code is MV4. I have an '86 Grand Prix with the 200R4 in it, and the RPO code is MW9. If that Monte was factory built with the 200R4, then it should have the MW9 code on the ID label. Good luck.

I have heard about build sheets being under the back seat but have yet to find one and have owned a whole bunch of gbodys thru the years ..

That's where mine was in my 83 Monte. It was Holey, rat piss stained, and brittle as hell but it was there!
