Stalls at idle in gear

Changed the plugs/wires/cap/rotor around 5 years ago, but probably less than 500 miles, used to never get driven with my previous garage situation, would like to take it out more now

If the car runs ok except for idle I would take the car out onto the highway and run it for an hour or so at highway speeds.

I would do a tune up or at least take the plugs out and clean them and clean the cap and rotor as well. I like to make sure the basic things are working properly before I start chasing a problem that might not exist.

Could this just be a case of old gasoline? If it rarely gets driven, 500 miles in 5 years, I would suspect stale fuel could be an issue

It was my first thought so I ran it down to 1/8 of a tank and then filled it up fresh along with a bottle of startron

For future reference if anyone has a similar problem, I smoke tested the vacuum system (found one leak but didnt solve it) had my local carb guy check the settings and it helped a bit, he suggested checking the ignition rotor, even though it maybe has 200 miles on it the car sits alot, cleaned it up with some Emery cloth and the car runs like new

Problem solved
