Yeah the links must be dead im getting a" forbidden" error screen. But I called mondello just now and the have repro's but they want $40. I think that's a bit much. I think i might try to make my own.

I get a "403 forbidden" error from that page. Maybe that site doesn't allow public sharing?

The links still work for me, and I'm not a member of that site. In any case, I saved them to my computer and attached them here.

Well since I've been looking for the brace I've been getting a few opinions on what the source of the problem, more specificly just now I was told my timing could be the culprit and could be kicking back and causing it to break I don't recall setting initial timing but total is 34deg. If it kicked back though would I notice it from inside? And wouldn't there be other symptoms?

Switch cable gave he'll but its out

I've been clean of crack for maybe 3.5 hours now. I replaced my starter that had a cracked nose but before I put the new one in or buy a starter brace i want to be sure that its not my timing causing the motor to kick back. So could someone tell me what initial timing i should have it set at and what total?

Looks like my old starter. Turned the key and sounded like a shotgun went off!

Changed a few starters in my time and a couple times I needed the shims. I had a cracked starter just like in your pictures, but after swapping it again with shims the replacement didn't crack and worked fine. Dude logically, I'm thinking you need shims. Look at the physics of it, it would crack if it's too close. Kickback doesn't tell me it will produce a force in the direction that would cause it to crack.

Then again I had no idea about that strap thingy either. Learn something new every day.
