Hi guys !!!

I withdrew the cap and rotor :here are few photos, if you see something wrong :

first I numbered the 8 different wires :

then removed them :

then I have this :

then I have this :

there is still this part which is turning when I start, is it the rotor ? or the rotor is the red part I just withdrew ?

How can I know which module I have ?

I would like to order the parts on rockauto, the only website which delivers tahiti easily :
what do I order ? I prefer to have everything in 1 order, it's more simple as shipping time is long and as it is cheap parts
-the distributor cap
-the rotor
-the module
-the coil
-some dielectric grease

if you have the exact references of the parts ?

you see something else ??

thanks

Mickey

It's a 4 pronger ignition module. Not the 7. Someone's been in there playing around...

GM p/n 19180771, ACDelco #D1906 or equivalent. Standard Motor Parts LX301. Airtex/Wells 6H1013.

Again, use the heat sink paste that comes with the module.

Lot of corrosion in there as well.

The module you can order from Rock auto. Make sure it's a 4-prong.

The cap and rotor kit can be had with Airtex 3D1045A. Comes with a cap, rotor, and coil contact. Don't skimp out on the quality. Doesn't have to cost a bunch, but don't buy the cheapest just because it's the cheapest.

See that little paste packet? Smear that around on the bottom side (metal side) of the module AND where it contacts the distributor plate. Obviously wipe off the old crap if any.

You should be able to find the cap and rotor there too perhaps. It's a very common cap and rotor assembly. Not that you absolutely have to have it, but it will rule out a carbon tracked cap, etc..

Egad. I just realized I was looking up crap from 1986!!!!!!! Not 1980. Ugh. The LX301 looks like it should work though. Shows it fitting a 350 in 1980 so...

I zoomed into the pic of the inside of the cap, that coil/carbon button is broken off on the underside of the cap.

If you buy a cap and rotor kit it should come with it.
