Whats a good aftermarket steering column shift for a 78 monte carlo ??

Don't overlook an S-10 column. With some mods, the '83-'94 columns will swap. Your '78 was the one model year with the splined end - '89 forward uses the modern D-shaped shaft end. Then you can use Jeep intermediate shafts with U-joints rather than the rag joint for a more solid connection to the road.
