Alright so after putting allot of thought into this, Instead of building up my 350 small block i'm going to pickup a 455 from a local salvage yard, a friend of mine can hook me up with the whole engine ready to run for 600$, it's an older buick 455 i think, runs good.

So the real questions are, what all is invovled with dropping this beast into my monte carlo? i've got an 1988 SS, i know the motor mounts will have to be changed and i'll have to re-do my exhaust but i was planning on that anyways, what else am i going to have to do?

A couple questions that come to mind are, will i be able to keep my wheel wells? What about my 700R4 bell housing? will my Torque converter bolt up to the flex plate on the 455?

Yes you can keep the wheel wells. Headers are super expensive and I believe only one person makes them. My neighbor installed one in his 87 regal and it fits fine. Make sure you get the exhaust manifolds with it and all the brackets and accessories. As in pulleys, PS brackets, Alt brackets, etc.

If you look around the forum for a few minutes, there is a guy doing a Buick 455 in an El Camino right now, you may wish to ask him for a few pointers.
