Yeah and they just laid off 98 Police officers and fire fighters in the city near me. In total 149 city employees where laid off. I think it was 63 police officers in total. But the city got a $600,000 grant from Obama for the police department. There is also a hiring freeze in the whole state of Massachusetts.

I agree with Tony. I am NOT a Bush fan. He did a lot of things I disagree with, but he still was not as bad as Obama. Onama has gone back on so many campaign promises it is not even funny. What happened to no lobbyists in the Cabinet? "The most ethical Administration", Really? Why all the tax cheats then? What about giving the public 5 days to review each bill before he signs it? How about all the political payback he's doing to all the lobbyist groups that supported him, like tha AFL-CIO and ACORN? He is proving to be one of the LEAST ethical Presidents we have ever had.

Tony, I beg to differ with you. Like I said before and it's logical, any spending creates economic growth, either private or govt. When the govt spends for fighter jets or ships or uniforms or whatever, that puts money into workers paychecks who then spend theirs on furniture or cars or new businesses. Once that is up and rolling, stimulus money can be retracted because the snowball has grown.

More layoffs, just when we're spriraling downward.

Its not that simple Steve.. The Fed and Gov are trying to keep this fake economy that we had the last 8 years going, and they can't sustain it. The bubble can only get so big before it pops... They can only steer the economy, not control it. And by trying to over control it, you run the risk of ruining our fiat currency. Its a debt based economy and now too many people are not spending beyond their means, so the economy is deflating. People are now saving, like they shouldve done. The gov can try to spend all it wants, but that doesnt mean the people will.. and in doing so, the gov's going to ruin the value of our currency. Also, most of this stimulus will only grow the size of gov and fund special interests, it really had nothing to do with the economy.

Like 85 said, I too have a problem with a 1000 page bill that was rushed through so NO ONE could read it, then it sat on his desk for 4 days before he signs it. Where's the honesty in that? This goes against exactly what he promised not to do. More lies and more business as usual.

Didn't agree with the earmarks, but I think under the conditions we have, let it go. Maybe if each rep has stuff in it for him, the votes will be there.
Other than that, I support his ideology. I'm slightly left of center, white, and college educated....the large group that pushed Obama over the edge.

The whole thing was earmarks! It had 0 to do with the economy. That's why it was rammed though. And if there was nothing to hide, he would have let everyone read it, and not rush it through then sit on it for 4 days.

Acorn and the black vote obviously pushed him over the edge.. 95% of blacks voted for him, along with some whites of course, who most likely were suffering from white guilt or Bush hatred.

LOL!!! Given that it's MSNBC that's funny. I wonder of Chris Matthews get's a tingle running up his leg when he reads it? I will point out that it is NOT a scientific poll though, just to be fair.

BTW, I too am white and college educated and I DID NOT vote for Obama. (Yes, I am still in school, but am only 3 credit hours away from a degree)

You gotta fix your banking.....I heard on the radio were a school bus driver making 30,000 a year bought a house worth 800,000 like hello like he can afford that ,of course they forclosed.

Happens all the time around me in Massachusetts. The b*tch of it all is that there are a lot of good jobs in the area and a lot of Portuguese people. I am Portuguese but do not speak it. In order to get some jobs you have to and in the past I have been turned down because of that.

These Portuguese people have grandparents, cousins and other relatives who build big $1,000,000 houses and they all live together, sometimes 13 people in one house. Some have been in the USA since the 1940's and still can't speak English, are not US citizens but manage to get more handouts than other people who are US citizens.

We have similar situations around here, only it's the Greeks working the Tarpon Springs sponge docks. It is the largest concentration of Greeks outside of Greece!
