I got my malibu exhaust cats-deleted straight pipes into series forties and dumped behind the wheels for $700.00 but keep in mind TECHNICALLY the guy who did my exhaust did it illegally so i paid a little premium for that

my dual exhuast is straight pipes with glasspacks paid $250, no cat's either...i had to pay $40 for my state inspection sticker it's normally $14.50 for not having cats and cuz i only had the drivers side windshield wiper...he said he could do pass me for $40...he stuck me but i paid it

i had duals put on my 84 cutlass at a custom exhaust shop for $350 and that included notching the crossmember. i supplied the mufflers so total it was about $400. no cats.

If you have a 4.3 V6, for the love of god, do NOT get straight pipes!

It will sound like total *ss!

I would recommend just getting some pipes bent up from the cat. back and have them split like a factory Monte SS set up. Then if the car ever gets a V8 down the road, they can just cut off the Y-pipe and hook up your headers to your existing pipes.

well

I called my local autoshop I like to go to, and they said 200 bucks for 2 inch straight pipes if i cut it off right at the manifolds. I asked what it might sound like no clue? anyone here ever heard a monte carlo with a 4.3 with 2 inch straight pipes running straight out the back??? I dont know if I should invest in the headers, mufflers etc?? need help dudes. Im taking it in there tomarrow. Thanks

Not Good. V6's just don't sound good at all with low restriction exhausts.

you could always try ti and if need cut a section of the pipe to install mufflers. Make sure that you let them know that you might be putting in mufflers so they can set it up in case you want them in.....and I don't know where you are but not running cats may be a problem if you get stopped

Okay, you are obviously on a budget.

Dude, you can put this kit together in your driveway with hand tools. Or you can pay an exhaust shop to put it on for you....

It's the Jeg's brand header back dual 2 1/2" kit and it's 205 dollars. That leaves enough money in your budget to buy the headers too, if you want.

Once you rip off all of your exhaust and mount this up, one quick trip to the exhaust shop will have them make two down pipes to go from your manifolds to the pipes. It's too easy....

For you emissions legal guys, here is the cat back system for 300 bucks:

And for the Flowmaster lovers (like me) there is the Grand National system from them with the 80 series crossflow muffler (like my Firebird uses) that puts the tailpipes on either side behind the rear tire - just like I like it.

This one is 320 bucks.

Now, you can bolt this stuff on yourself and then have the exhaust shop weld it, or whatever. That is usually what I do.

Why do they say these kits will fit Cutlasses except the supreme? What is the difference? I was going to buy the top kit you mentioned now I am hesitating in the purchase. Someone please explian this to me. Why all cutlass models except the supreme.
