Stupid car mods you love to hate?

I had a "Warm Air Intake" (as we used to call them on Nissan Forums) on my Sentra. It did sound good, but I have no idea what it did to performance or fuel economy as 18 hours after it was installed, I totaled the car.

As for me, no problem with well done imports, just ricey crap. Also, just because you play with imports does not make you a ricer. It is doing useless crap that adds nothing to the car that makes one a ricer.

On that note, I will also add air shocks and tires sticking out beyond the wheel wells. I also don't like turn downs, skinnys and drag radials on cars that can't get out of the mid 13's, hood scoops that go nowhere, or any other modification to a slow car to make it look faster than it really is.

i would have to agree with its no point for v4 to have mods. this girl asked me wats the difference. i told her that her car(neon, saturn, honda, etc) has a v4. my car has a v8 thats double the cylinders, double the power, which equal twice as fast. she understood. at least have a v6, but hey if it works for you, and when you race you win. then like the old heads say it "if it aint broke dont fix it" i'll just tell you like this any v4 car or v6 pull up. you wont see me.

Was she driving a 1972 Saab Sonnet? That's the only car I can think of that has a V4...

I think he ment L4 as inline 4 cylinder. Dont worry Mugzi, ive made the same mistake before..

i need to add this almost forgot i really hat when people put dual exhaust on a v6 rather it be a mustang or a 86 monte. no. you want a deeper sound then go deeper in displacement. had to get that out my system.

Agreed. They sound like crap, no matter who makes the engine.

I dont know if this car has true duals but, I think the Nissan 350Z, and some other cars with that same engine, have the best sounding 6 cylinder exhaust. Stock it has a very nice tone to it, its really hard to explain what it sounds like.

They dont generally sound very good, but for adding perfomance i can see it as acceptable. I cant imagine a TR/GN not having dual exhaust. There are also newer cars coming out with N/A V6s putting 300+ Hp. I dont know whether or not they are true dual though.

The GN was never a true dual setup. It has a single turbo, and both halves of the engine feed the exhaust housing that then goes to a single downpipe to a single catalytic converter and splits to duals with a Y pipe and 2 mufflers after that. Also, I think the 350Z probably narrows to a single at some point to clear the IRS, then splits to a dual muffler setup, but I am not sure. I am not that familiar with the Z33 chassis.

Makes sense.

well of course the gn is the only exception. well i guess any gbody of course. but usually with a gbody when duals come usally a bigger motor isn't too far from it. but for me i care less about cosmetics. like i may enjoy big rims, but the biggest i'll go to is 22's. with the right engine you can move. but drivetrain and interior is the big factors that play a part. but like someone said if its to make you faster then by all just do it. any thing else is point less. because girls love winners. 8)
