Stupid car mods you love to hate?

I was just thinking about roof scoops the other day! I once drove an Isuzu NPR box truck with one that had a top speed of 55 ( damn 4 cyl turbo diesel!!!), and it was quite effective at that speed. Even still, I would not use one on anything I didn't intend to rally. (Note to self: buy old shitbox and prep for rallys!)

The GN was never a true dual setup. It has a single turbo, and both halves of the engine feed the exhaust housing that then goes to a single downpipe to a single catalytic converter and splits to duals with a Y pipe and 2 mufflers after that.

well of course the gn is the only exception. well i guess any gbody of course. but usually with a gbody when duals come usally a bigger motor isn't too far from it.

85 Cutlass Brougham is correct.Actually,no G-body ever came with real dual exhaust*.The H/O,GN,442,and GP 2+2 all had a Y pipe into a single cat, then split out into two seperate mufflers running to two tailpipes.
*The GNX may be the exception,I'm not sure.

Thought of something else. Those plastic glue on speed holes that everyone puts on their front quarters. You know like the buicks have, even though they arent buicks.

Buick called the holes in the front fenders Ventiports.

nope GNX still had single exhaust with dual outlets

Also they are used on mid-engine cars as an air intake.

if youre referring to the MR2, no it doesnt. i had an MR2 turbo last year before i bought the SS. those intakes actually make the car LOSE power. most of the time people put the scoop on the wrong side of the intake???? wtf?? even on the right side though, its purely cosmetic and will actually slow your car down if you dont do it properly. and by properly i mean alot of effort.

Im talkin about the more exotic vehicles, cant think of which ones of hand.

porsche and ferrari do it but it's designed using a wind tunnel so the intake actually works.

what's wrong with spoilers on FWD cars? i have a stock one on my VW and it does help the lines of the car. of course i don't think it'll produce any downforce at a speed the car will attain.

hate 92 hondas with a 96 VTEC engine, but a stock ecm and harness. it's slower than stock. especially when they pull the a/c compressor, power steering, and put a little electric fan in the intake ducting. or the cold air intake under the engine, perfectly positioned to suck up the puddle of water on the road. i really want to hear one of those hydrolock one day.

There is a difference. Yours is probably from the factory, or atleast looks like it is. It is purley for cosmetic purposes. Its when you put a 2 foot high 6 foot wide wing on a car that can barley do 80 that it becomes bad.

Acceptable

Not acceptable. Notice the racing stripes.

what got me is that you said spoiler.
it is amazing how they don't realize that yes a superbee had a huge wing, but it was for NASCAR and 150mph+. you have an 80mph History Of No Dramatic Acceleration.
plus i wonder just how much drag they produce.

Plus, old school muscle cars had very bad suspension so it just made it that much easier for a *ss end to come around. Hence the reason for a bigger wing, ten say today.

you dont mean in the fender but actually UNDER the engine? the best cai for my car goes down into the fender where it actually gets cold air.

I was the superbird and daytona that had that wing and the only reason it was that high was so they could still open the trunk.
