Summitracing VS jegs

Summit has earned my bussiness for life for the following reason.
A few yrs ago i bought a proform 750 carb off them i put it on my car on a new motor with maybe 1k miles tops. Well i took it to the track on the third pass the squirter srcew and the needle fell out and went into motor. Well long story short it destroyed one piston bent a valve and cracked cylinder wall. So i gave summit a call thier response was sorry to hear that this is what we will do for you. Other then the block make a list on all the parts you will need to redo the same motor gaskets piston valve etc. So i did i really didnt expect them to do much but i emailed the list to the guy he sent me a invoice back with all prices marked down 50% over the normal price. So i got all parts dirt cheap and summit earned my bussiness for life because they didnt even have to do that.

I also called proform and they even stepped up giving me store credit on thier site.

So in the end i ate $500 in machine work and was happy because it could have been a total waste.

For the most part, both Jegs and Summit are neck and neck with quality and price.
I like how they both offer brand name duplicates of some parts, with their house names on it, for a fraction of the cost, yet with same quality.

Here's a reason I choose JEGS more often, because I live in Canada:

Jegs always gives me a price + shipping cost that INCLUDES duties/brokerage fees -- and this price is rediculously lower than summit. They do use their own brokerage firm which saves US money and wins their international business.

You really only find this out the hard way. You order from Summit and when you get your package you're asked to pay like $56 in duties/brokerage and you're like WTF man.

You order from Jegs, it appears in your mailbox -- fast. Nothing to pay for duties.

I've dealt with both, and have had pretty much the same experiences with both of them(both good and bad), I have also dealt with Doug Herberts Performance, again with about the same experience.

I go local when I can.

I use Jegs, never summit. Like 454muscle said - Jegs prices include shipping to canada so the price is much more reasonable. Summit has a habit of not marking things "Made in the USA" on the shipping docs. So I ended up paying duties on things that I shouldn't have, twice. I never had that problem with Jegs, so I stopped using Summit.

Started out using Jegs but find that summit beats them on prices on almost everything. Was looking at the Jegs trans crossmember also, but have read that the exhaust cutouts are not in the right place. Compare the pic of both of them and you will see that the Jegs one will require exhaust work to fit, where the G force from summit will bolt right up with most exhaust systems. Have found two other sites that usually beat summit's prices so look around there are deals to be had.

i have been dealing with summit since i was 16 so thats 16 years now and before that my mom used summit when she grew up since she was from Cleveland, OH and summit is from Ohio. I used jegs sometimes if summit is out of stock

Summit has a store in Georgia, so usually when I order something, it is a one-day turnaround..... 8)

Same here, I'm 45 mins outside of Pittsburgh and always get orders from summit next day.

I'm overall impressed with the summit brand parts, i didn't know they simply re-boxed high-er end parts.

I'm REALLY impressed that summit owns trickflow! **** yeah, i know what my next set of heads will be. If i ever get this 355 off the stand

Friday i'm picking up a set of olds to chevy engine mounts off of black sheep, then i'll see if i can afford a crossmember yet.
