Is there a supercharger system that can bolt on to an old school chevy small block and be kept under the hood, cowl hood or stock? A low profile supercharger without a blower above the hood. Any pics would be great.
Thanks, just curious

I just googled this real quick and clicked the first thing I saw relating to g body cars. This guy did it on a 78 Malibu with a 2 1/2in cowl hood.

I am sure somebody makes something for under the hood clearance. There are centrifugal superchargers out there. Those would surely fit. I do not know what goes into making them work or their cost though.

Only thing I want to point out here is you will encounter the same problem as a serpentine belt setup...You will need 3 accessory holes in the passenger side head.

Many centrifugal blow through system superchargers can be, units made by Procharger, Vortech, etc. Also some of the smaller screw types like Weiand and B&M 142's and 177's can fit under a small cowl, don't know that they'll fit under a stock hood. Any of these run from $2000-$5000 and higher, depending on what you want and how much power you want to make. Compression should be between 8:1 and 9:1 to stay on the pump. Both styles will need some carb mods done to them and should at least have forged pistons installed if your gonna put much boost into it. There are other upgrades that may be required depending on the output you want.

honestly i think you'd have more power, better reliability, and for the same or less money if you just built the engine.

Exactly. For what you'll have into building a supercharged engine, i (or you with the right know-how) can build a 406/355 that will devistate the boosted small block, for the same amount of money, maybe even less.

Also, if you're really considering boosting a build, you need to consider the rest of your drivetrain. It might not hold up to the sudden power surges.

Thanks for all the replies, but to be honest it was just out of curiousity that I asked the question, however I am interested in hopping up my sbc350 a little. It is a four bolt main cast crank, pretty much stock with about 300hp, I was thinking of adding 210cc aluminum pro-comp heads and a cam, maybe some other stuff, any recommendations that won't lead me to changing out my entire motor again?
Thanks,
