Supercharger Question

I still disagree, right heads + cam and you'll end up with the same results. And not pushing over 6200 RPM.
My rev limiter is set at 6200, power had peaked by 5500. You can build a great engine with the same peak numbers for sure. But the amount of torque and how soon it comes in and how flat the curve is, is what is hard to reproduce.
Don't get me wrong, your setup sounds t*ts. I'd love to see it in action, superchargers have always been something I've wanted to build. How's the maintenance on that supercharger? I heard you have to change your oil more frequently?

Mine leaks a little gear oil out the front seal but it is over a decade old and was used when i got it, but that's about it.

And you said less than 300 dollars into your shortblock??.... Are you running cast pistons/ rods in it? Because unless you robbed the parts store, you'd have at least 100$ into bearings and rings. That leaves 200$ for a crank/rod/piston setup.
I'm guessing since your supercharger is of the tame kind, you're still using a cast crank?

Block, crank, rods, pistons are all stock. All I did was re-ring it. That price includes new bearings, rings, and gaskets. It is not what i'd recommend but it past a 1 1/2 years and no problems.

$300 in the shortblock, but how much in the heads? and in the charger? and the carb?

I bought everything used. But when i bought it the prices for new would have been:

1000 or less for the heads. Which aren't required for the power.
1100 for the supercharger through summit.
250 or so for the carb, which is just a Edelbrock.

Head and carb prices don't really matter caus e you will need them anyway. I'm not saying this is the best solution or that it's better for anyones particular situation. Just that you will find on similar builds that nitrous, superchargers, and turbos are capable of more power. Otherwise I guess top fuel would be running NA.

If you think about it, as long as your not beating on the engine all the time, and running a "tame" charger, boosting an all cast bottom end won't be that detrimental. Supercharging is still a more espensive route, but i'd do it.

And in my opinion, supercharging rules over turbo/ ****ing nitrous.
