I've done exactly zero in locating any particular T5 because I have no idea what I need to be looking for.

It SEEMS the FBody transmission would have the proper shifter location but it's canted 17 degrees so I figured that was out.

Don't know anything about input spline count.

Here's a couple pics of my T50;

mine are in storage so i don't have any measurements on the shifter distance but the floor hole is so large that i hope it will work with the 17degree twist.
I've tried searching for that info but can't find it.

Depending on cost, would having one built using the 4.3 S truck case (same standard GM pattern & correct lenth input shaft) with a tail housing that uses a non angled mount? Or even use the S truck tail & center the shifter close the the stock location. I've heard of a place in eastern Pa (can't remember the shops name) that could build a T5 to world class or better strenth. This is something I cam across years ago at Carlisle & thought they were at Pittsburgh Parts A Rama too. Not know what you can/willing to spend, maybe a TKO could be an option as those have a few shifter mounting positions (but still centered.)

I thought a custom build T5 could be a way to go but have no knowledge of what parts I'd need to make one.

I feel the TKO is overkill for me and it doesn't really fit great in a Gbody. My friend did that swap in his 78 5 speed.

I did the v8 f-body swap in my 87 Monte and I had all kinds of questions like you do. The only reason the trans is tilted is to point more to the driver for drivability. The shifter is not tilted. I did research all over this site and read somewhere on the forum here that a member used the v8 t5 and used a regular bell housing that mounted the trans straight. Which still made it come through the floor in the right place but he heated the shifter to bend it to point toward the driver and reworked the cross member mount. He said it worked great. He even posted pics and it looked good too.

Lakewood makes a bellhousing with bop or chevy bolt pattern and has multiple holes for various transmissions. Even has the holes to mount the 17 degree angle. SummitRacing has them for about 400 bucks.

I'm hearing different things about how the tilt of the FBody T5 is setup....

The FBody bellhousing has the transmission mounting holes canted about 17 degrees. So when an F-Body T5 trans is bolted to this bellhousing, the transmission mount for the crossmember is level with the ground correct? So is the shifter coming into the car tilted toward the driver or does it come up straight through?

If an F-Body T5 is mounted to a standard straight bellhousing ( no tilt ), the transmission mount won't be level with the ground? And the shifter will be straight or tilted away from the driver?
