I have a quick question about air pressure. Sorry if it's dumb.

Let's say I have an air compressor filled with 10psi of air. Let's also say that the air shocks in my car have 20psi in them. If I were to try to fill my shocks up to 30psi, it wouldn't work, correct? You can't fill something up with air pressure that is lower on the sending side?

Correct.

You are correct, you would actually lose pressure from the shock doing that.

actually it would work, you have 20 lbs in the shocks and 10 lbs in the tank so if you connected the tank to the air shock it would equalize the pressure giving you the tank at 15 lbs and the shocks at 15 lbs each.. 2 shocks with 15 lbs = 30 lbs.......😎

Ok, thank you guys

Also, does anyone know what the max pressure is that I can fill my stock air shocks with? It's an 86 el Camino. I have 50psi in them right now, and the back of the car sits maybe 3/4 to 1in higher than it did at 0psi. I'm not going to be hauling or towing or doing anything like that, I just want to keep the shocks decently filled, and id like to know what the max is so I don't pass it.

just google the brand of shocks you have and you'll find that info

I don't know what brand they are. They are the stock ones that came with the car

You would be right in your thinking if volume and pressure are the same thing. Connect the shocks and tank, and it will find its even number. If the shocks are 1 cubic foot each with 20psi, connect both together, then to a 20 gallon tank with 10psi, you are looking at about 12psi through the 2 shocks and the tank.
