What can I find a 700r, the crossmember, and driveshaft to swap into a g-body with a th350.

What rear gears would y'all run with a 700r (right now it has 2.73's, I pulled the covers after getting mixed answers on what it sould've had stock) and a 255/60 on 15X8. I'm was thinking 3.42 with a th350 and 3:73's with the 700r.

What does a stock used 700r cost?

what do you plan on using the car for?

It's a daily driver. Street/strip

Will any g-body with a 700r trans, crossmember, and driveshaft work?

It should, I'm building a 79 waggin and going with a 700 with 3.73 rear for streetability. Tons of ppl can shorten driveshafts too if you have a lil extra cash.

i would just stick with the 350 it can handle alot more and put more power to the ground

But the th350 no O/D for mileage.

I have been advised the 700r has larger splits between gears which could leave you hunting for the right gear when driving, up-shifting etc... if you do not have enough HP to keep up. Why not go with a 200r, they are cheaper, more plentiful and I suppose you would rebuild any unit before you put it in anyways so just upgrade to GN spec and you are good for 400+ HP ( is what I have been told ).

You can buy a 700R4 cross member on line now, I don't have the link, do a google on it. Shorten that driveshaft 3 inches - exactly 3 inches. Get a transmission cooler and adjust the TV cable the right way. The crossmember is a bolt up AND has two humps for your exhaust pipes to go thru. I think you have to dump the column shift if you have one like I do.

700

i am doing tossing in a heavy 700 in my rig very soon and been talking with parts man at local dealer who has done od swaps himself already. he give me this little side plate that is suppose to go in the side of the shift columm somewhere(haven't put it on yet) and allows u to drop it into 1st gear. where 1st gear was with old 350 is now the 2nd gear spot with the 700 and i think its best if i can control her in 1st when messing around instead of it jumping into 2nd.

Hey guys im in the same boat right now i have an 86 cutlass supreme. Im putting in a 355 with a 700r4 now i was told a stock crossmember would work but it has to move back an inch but thats doiund nothing for me right now. The cross membver i have is from a monte carlo it was notched to run a dual exhaust, thats why im using it. Is there a difference in the two crossmembers?

I fount a newlt rebuilt 700r of of a early 90's van. no torque converter. Is $100 a bad deal if he will or will not garuntee it.
