When I bought my car I got no information other than it was a sbc 350 with a th250C trans. Well the trans was toast so I picked up a th350 so the torque converter won’t work. I’m trying to order a new converter but have no idea what stall I should be looking for. Car will never see the track, just use it for cruising. I’m thinking something slightly above stock but have no idea. Maybe 1700-2000ish?

Thanks for any help

2500 was acceptable behind my 2.41s and my 3.42s in my car. that's the max i would go. wouldn't waste any money on anything lower unless stock is your preference.

Well someone already ruined it, so it doesn't matter😁. Seriously go with a 2200 to 2500 stall. The factory 1600 stall is brutal. I have a 1900 stall behind my stock 73 Olds 350, another 300 rpm would just make it more fun. I have ran a 2400 flash stall with 2.56, it was fine. Yes the torque converters are different but you are risking the next trans with one from a dead trans.

I can’t use the old converter anyway. It’s for a lockup trans and the new one isn’t a lock up. I’ve been strictly a manual guy so I need to learn these automatics now. Sounds like I’ll be going with something at least 2200. Thanks everyone.

Yep - most SBC flywheels are drilled for dual patterns. Is the engine stock? I take it you looking for a generic converter.
