Well, finally got some real work done, replaced the spewing valve cover gaskets and re-painted the valve covers themselves.
And so there it sits; Patiently waiting for me to find something else to fix

Nice headers there. 8) How about plugs and wires next? Inexpensive, easy and effective.

It's funny you mention Plugs and the headers...My headers actually make it impossible to pull out the plugs, I can't even fit a plug socket in the space. So the plug wires and oil change will be done ASAP, but the plugs themselves will have to wait until I take it to the exhaust shop and get them pulled and cut for the plugs

wow I was looking at similar headers but I'm glad I just got the regular exhaust done. Would have been mad as hell if I went to do plugs and couldn't - lol

Well this thread wont be very busy (what am I talking about, it's already not busy), since this is how the car's going to look for the next few months. It can snow up into March and April 'round here, so if I do any work at all, it's probably not going to be very exciting. Just a heads up if anyone reads the saga of the $400 Cutlass

I forgot to post it when I first found it a few weeks ago, but upon digging through all the Schuck's and NAPA receipts I found this paperwork for a rebuild in 1999: Bore .040 over, crank .010 under, new pistons, new cam, new lifters, timing assembly, rebuild oil pump, heads complete rework, new thermostat 195 degrees, radiator cleaned and tested, new water pump etc. etc. So based on the date and mileage at the time of the rebuild that would put it at less than 36,000 miles on the rebuild, making 91,000 total miles on the car

We've had some nice weather lately, so I decided to do some tinkering with the Olds.
I thought this was a nice corner shot and I added a very small personal touch to that big blank space on the console. Sorry for the crappy quality ipod pictures

Time for an update. The Gutlass now has new rotors, bearings, pads, calipers, and the rubber brake line from the hardline to the caliper, on both sides. The brakes still don't work, and a new master cylinder arrives in a few days. The car is running well again, after a can of Sea-Foam in the tank and a fuel line repair, it now fires right up and runs every time. There's still a noticeable misfire, but I'll address that another time.

^The old rotor and pads(what's left of them). I also removed the ugly chrome rocker trim that was mostly missing, finished painting the wheels, and painted the grilles and headlight bezels.

Once spring rolls around, we'll paint the entire car to match. My dad says people will probably mistake it for a Grand National when it's done 8)

Haven't done much lately, apart from an oil change and some other insignificant stuff.

Painted both bumpers and the header panel, working on the rust bubbles on the door now. I'll be going to a Pick 'n Pull soon, I'll hopefully score a new carb and maybe some other parts. On a side note, the IROC-Z28 is most likely sold (finally), the Roadmaster killed another Opti-Spark(replacement #2), and we got a new car, the '10 Flex EcoBoost TT3.5 V6 AWD; It makes somewhere in the neighborhood of 360hp
