Thinking About a Used Hyundai Accent Hatchback.

Another vote for Kia...lol as that is who made the Festiva. They sold it in Korea as the Kia Pride. It was also sold in Europe as the Mazda 121. This is why they have swap-ability to interchange with the Protege, 323, Capri XR-2, and Escort GT.

all i know is that thing rocked. and it smoked a new GTO off the line too..........in the snow that is. haha great car though.

I had a tiburon, and as long as you stay away from autotrany's you should be good, I had 2 go out in under 60,000 and did a auto 2 5-speed swap. Great car after. Wheel bearings are a problem to.

The manual transmission Hyundai Tiburon had quite a few noted problems with its clutch- it was undersize for the car and would burn up quickly. Problem only remedied by using aftermarket performance clutch.

Don't rule out a late model used Corolla as a good pizza delivery box if you find one cheap. Chain driven cams on an engine that lasts 200k easily, with both manual and auto trannies that hold up well also. Only reason I know this is my brother has an '00 Corolla that was the only thing he got out of his divorce which he beats the sh*te out of and gives minimal maintenance to and it's got over 200k on the clock. Still runs and looks respectable. I don't care for belt driven cams either, but I've never really heard of them being a problem with Honda. They used to be a big problem with DOHC Mitsubishis and Hyundai's that had DOHC Mitsu engines. Honda, Toyota and Nissan still rule the roost as far as the ricers go.

GM has not built a car I have liked or had an inkling of interest in since the end of the G and B bodies. In between two of my Toyota trucks I bought a Ford Ranger and needless to say there will never be another Ford owned by me. Every day now at work in my company '07 Caravan constantly reminds me of how much Chrysler sucks as that thing detonates down the road and produces some horrible smell under the hood that no one can figure out what it is. I don't know if I've become more picky, but even my '07 Toyota truck does not feel to be built with the quality of the two I had previous to it- I'm getting really sick of the super-cheap plastic inside cars that you can scratch with your fingernails, it's just ridiculous for what these new cars cost.

The Corolla is not a bad car, but it is just so bland I could never get one. I had the chance to get a 2000 Corolla VE with 60k miles on it last year for $500. It had been wrecked in the front, but was otherwise mint. I just couldn't bring myself to buy it even though I could have fixed it myself. I had driven the car before the wreck, and hated it. It felt like it had been designed by a government committee that was assigned the task of coming up with a generic transportation pod for the proletariat. I would consider the old Corolla FX/16 though, as it has some personality to it.

Yes, it's bland. But hell, for a car to get the job done with max economy and reliabliity, it will get the pies delivered on time and with gas costs maybe keep the bills payed and a little change in the pocket to work on the hobbies 😀

I worked for ten years as a truck owner operator, and gave very little of a F for the morons with their Ego-Peterbilts, as I made every bit of cash per mile with my cheap-azz Freightliner. A work vehicle is a work vehicle (Like my Carey-Van) so why care about style if the damn thing works and works well?
