This isn't right..

Sure, I agree pretty much. I have to say though, cops do tackle yes, but most aren't 61 years old like this guy. I agree people shouldnt be firing warning shots everywhere but in my eyes a gun is a tool. Sometimes just producing a gun can stop a crime, he made a noise with his and stopped the guy from leaving. And the article states he arrived home to a robbed house of his own and seen a guy leaving from his neighbors house after robbing it. So I mean, the dude did right in my opinion. Like you said though, none of us were there and you can't really make a judgement call on something we aren't involved first hand. By the way none of this is to argue with you about or anything, just stating my opinion and enjoying a discussion.

This is a great example of why it doesnt pay to live in the city limits of a town. I live in the country. And we hear gun shots all the time. If somebody gets caught robbing your house around here, they would feel lucky to get caught by the cops and not the home owner. You post a sign that says "no trespassing" and the law stands behind you if you shoot somebody. People respect each others property or risk the consequences. Sometimes, less law enforcement is a good thing for lowering the crime rate....

It's all good Chris, and I agree, it's just good conversation. I hope it works out ok for this guy. It's good to get involved, probably better to be safe and not personally confront people if it's not your job...but there are those among us who spontaneously stand up for what's right. I hope I'm never faced with a situation like this, and I hope that if I am, I do the right thing.

Absolutely, I agree. Confrontation should be the last thing on a persons mind unless forced into it. It is nice though to see this guy got the sh*t scared out of him though.

Let Darwin take over

I live in the sticks in a very small community. Our county only holds 40k people. Sadly though, where I am located in Michigan it is a major stop for drug traffickers. Drugs are starting to come here, crime is rising. 15 years ago a murder would be unthinkable. We've had about 5 in the last 10 years. A couple drug related. Obviously that isn't a huge number compared to some places but it just shows you IT IS COMING HERE. There have been tons of break ins in the last couple years. I would say 50 minimum. Some very close to my house. This sucks. I don't feel that my stuff is safe anymore. Whole cars are getting ripped off out of peoples garages!!! Crazy times.

Amen! And no matter what the outcome of this particular story, it's still going to make anybody who's thinking they're going to break into a house or shop and make an easy score think twice whether they're going to run into a guy who doesn't like scumbags. 😀

I here ya....I live on I-85, about an hour north of Durham, NC, which is almost exactly midway between NYC and Miami. Durham is a breeding ground for all types of criminal activity. About 3yrs ago, we had a wave of home breakins up here because the newspaper in Durham did an article on the "luxurious lake" houses being built around here. The local sheriffs dept. was overwhelmed. The crooks were using Google Earth to find the houses on the lake, then take a boat and rob the house and leave almost no trace of evidence. Well, some catfishermen were nearby one night when these Durham Crooks got the bright idea to break into a house and the fishermen noticed what they were up to...They sneaked up to the boat and pulled the plug on it (john boat)....then waited for them. The robbers came down the stairs to the dock, jumped into the boat, which was about half sunk.... and the idiots attempted to drive it anyway...so they got about 100 ft from the shore and the boat sank, along with all their loot.... the fishermen threw the 3men life jackets, called the law. The newspaper up here reported it.... DURHAM ROBBERS NEARLY DROWN ON LAKE. Havent had much trouble since then...lol.
