Het guys, need a little help. I just bought a near perfect 87 442 with only 41,000 miles. The tires need replaced form it sitting and I wanted to know what is the biggest tire and can put on the factory 15 wheel with no suspension mods. Wheels are beautiful, still have factory pin stripe so I want to use them. Car currently has 17 70 15s and I would like to go to a 60 series, I feel it would help handling. I was thinking a 225 on the front and 255 on the back but need to know if they will fit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim.

Welcome Tim. Both sizes you mentioned will fit just fine.

The 225/60’s will be a little over 25 1/2” tall with about a 9” section width.

The 255/60’s will be about 27” tall with about a 10” section width

Actual tire specs will differ slightly depending on brand but they won’t be too far off from what is listed above.

I run 275/60’s Mickey Thompson Drag radials on the rear on a 15x8 wheel without any issues. Mine are 28.2” tall with an 11.1” section width.

Post some pics when you can.

Thanks for all the great info. I ordered BFGs from Coker, 235 and 255. Thanks again.
