tire size 1987 el camino

What is the largest tire size i can fit on my 1987 el camino.. i was thinking maybe 235/70r15 but not sure if they will fit. Any help would be appreciated.

I run a 255/60R15. Plenty of clearance. '78 El Camino.

Are you using that tire size all the way around? I have seen lots of folks with different size in the front and rear..

No. I run a 185/65R15 on front. That's just the style I like. Doesn't help it's cornering ability.

I ran 235/70 /15s on the back of my 83 El Camino and they fit very well. After wearing that pair out I went 235/75/15s and they fit but just barley......I'll be going back to the 70 series in the near future.

I run a 245/60/15 on a 15X8 rim with no problems. When I bought the 78 El camino it had 275/60/15 with the same rim. I had no problems with them either.
