I never provide free advertising for dealerships but what in the hell is this about?

There's got to be a story here.

the story is the cop who gave the ticket, sh*t disturbing cops here will give obscure tickets like that. I had one client who was given a ticket for unsecure transportation of dangerous goods when the cop found the battery wasn't secure after he yanked on the battery cable hard enough to loosen it up. We tried to force a trial but the cop would not show up

Around these parts, you don't show on the trial date, you automatically forfeit and lose unless there's some very strong mitigating circumstances. That's some pretty inane and stupid crap right there as far as writing the tickets anyway. Cops usually like to be scheduled where they can get paid more for showing up in court anyway.

in my area the cops have been changing their radios to digital so no one can listen in, the problem they are having is the radio signal is inconsistent so they have 2 cops in every car now in cause they couldn't trust a call for assistance would get through. So now they ride around with the backup on board...this is causing lots of overtime and I've had a few cases tossed cause the cop didn't show and the prosecution forgot to file a motion to move the trial to another day.

In certain states anything that blocks or covers any part of the plate is illegal.

Even a clear plate cover is illegal here.

Call it what you will, you weren't there. So you are only getting one side of the story.

Here is the USA driving is a privilege not a Constitutional Right.

So it can be regulated beyond belief.

That's the reason the Penal Laws are around 500 pages and the Vehicle Traffic Laws are about 2000 pages

HTA Section 13.2 ”every number plate shall be kept free from dirt and obstruction and shall be affixed so that the entire number plate, including the numbers, is plainly visible at all times, and the view of the number plate shall not be obscured or obstructed by spare tires, bumper bars, any part of the vehicle, any attachments to the vehicle or the load carried.”

it's ambiguous cause the main focus is on the numbers need to be visible. Even without a frame the heads of the screws or bolts that you use to secure the plate cover part of the plate so I guess the cops could ticket all of us. Like you said we are only getting one side of the story but are you suggesting that the cop was unable to give a ticket for something else he/she chose the plate?

Yes the screws must be visible simply because if you zip tie a plate on or use any other form to secure it. It is not properly secured.

And guess what.......that is a violation.....improperly secured plate.

PENAL- combination of "PEN*S" and "ANAL". Which is what happens in PENAL prison. And that right there is my biggest deterrent for committing crimes. Not the prison sentence.

If that's the plate showing in the article, you can read all the numbers. I'd use the cop's words against them when he said that all "numbers" were to be readable, etc. The only thing covered up is a fuggin useless slogan. At least in most places around here, if you have a dealer frame or whatever blocking the plate where they can't read it, they give you a chance to remove said blockage before simply writing a ticket. IMO, it's just "tool" time for the cop. Unless the driver was being a dlck about being stopped for it. Especially when the cops are using the same style of dealer plates on their vehicles. I bet the driver wins this round.

I think you missed my point, the law say the entire plate must be visible. The heads of the screw or bolts are covering a portion of the plate so all of us can get a ticket. There is nothing in the law that permits you to block the plate with the fastener.

The law securing the plate to the vehicle permits it
