If that motor has Vortec heads a 3000 stall, 4.56 gears, and a .488" 292 cam will get that thing moving right proper.
I just spent two hours looking at random crate engines. Anybody want a 4G63T?? Turns out that Jegs has them. How about a ton of Subaru engines??? They have them too. Thanks Mike...
I was so excited with your response a couple months ago I forgot to thank you! I appreciate your clear answer. ThanksThe converter is stalling at those rpm (1300-1500) not locking up. Converter stall is when it actually produces forward motion. Lockup eliminates the slippage of the converter via a mechanical clutch creating a more efficient mode of power transfer. If it's actually locking the 'verter at those rpm in low gears it would be lurching and bucking all over.
Converters are witchcraft and voodoo. So many things change how they act and perform under specific conditions.
Yep it is the cheaper one!It could be that Vortec motor but I bet it is the cheaper flat tappet version.
