I have a new 200-4r trans in my car with a tci lockup switch. I'm not using the vacuum swith amd have a toggle switch that I can manually lock or unlock in the car. When I first start driving the car the torque converter locks and unlocks the instant I flip the switch. Once the car is warm the torque converter doesn't want to unlock right away. If I'm on the highway with the converter locked I have to flip the switch to unlock about a mile before I get off the highway. Eventually the converter will unlock but it takes about a mile to do so. Any idea why it's not unlocking right away when at normal temp?

if it is the solenoid you can use any solenoid out of a 200 4r. Some will have two wires coming from the solenoid and some will only have one. The solenoids that have only one wire have a second short wire that grounds to the solenoid housing. You will just need to add a wire to the ground wire. When I did my manual lock up the instructions said to use a two wire solenoid and I passed over the one wire solenoids till I saw the short ground wire.

Thanks for the information. That write up was very informative. Just like the write up my trans is a freshly rebuilt. Should this solenoid have been replaced during a rebuild? It does have a one year warranty so hopefully I can get the place I got the trans from to pay for the replacement parts.

I would bring it back to the trans shop before you start to diagnose yourself just to be in the safe side.

I wish this was an option but the trans shop I got the trans from is 2-1/2 hours away from me in Rockford IL. I'm really hopeful that I wont be needing to return the transmission to the shop for anything. I will call tomorrow, ask about it, and see what I am told.

I would not touch it and bring it back to the shop or at least call them and explain the problem and see what they say. If you drop the pan to take a look the shop can say that since the pan was removed the warranty is void.

I hope they dont say anything about the warranty being voided if the pan is dropped cause I've had it off twice already. Once before the trans was in the car to install an drain plug and once when I was having problems with the tv cable sticking. I was in contact with the trans shop when I had the tv cable issues so they should know I dropped the pan. I will be calling later this morning and will update after I talk to them.
