GM had many paint peeling issues in the 90's, my 94 Z71 had the awesome primer that didn't like paint sticking to it. Awesome looking car and Turna's Wife's car looks really sharp.

V6 's where body color V8's where painted black
From Z28.com (a tad confusing as these are different posts from the same person at different times, but all V8s did not necessarily have a black roof). I've seen a few body color topped Z/28s at the lots in my day:
"In 93-94 the Z28 was available only with the black roof. The 6cyl had body colored roofs. T-top z28's also had the black C-panel (Portion of roof behind the t-tops) and 6 cyl cars had a body colored C-Panel.

In 95-02 the option showed up where you could order a body colored roof and for 95-98, body colored mirrors to go with the body colored roof.

The main exceptions to this rule is the 97 30th Anniversary and the 2002 35th Anniversary Limited Edition vehicles respectively came with body colored roof and side view mirrors*

All Trans Am's and Firebirds had body colored roofs beause the Pontiac is and always will be the upgraded version of Chevrolet's production line, therefore it has more standard options.

*99-02 Camaro's all came standard with body colored mirrors irregardless of roof color. "

"In 93 all Camaro's had black roofs.

Then from 94-02, standard practice was for all Z28's, and SS' (except Z4C models) to have black roofs, and V6 cars to have body colored roofs. In 94, colored roofs and mirrors became optional by dealer or consumer request.

For the Firebirb platform, the 93 model came in a black roof as well, and then from 94-02 all Firebird and Trans-Am's came with body colored roof and mirrors with the exception being the CETA; it was available only with a black roof."

I still occasionally see the vans from the late 80s and into the 90s that look like the paint just blew off of them running around. All it is is primer. I heard a rumor a long time ago it was because GM made and primered a bunch of bodies at once and then let them sit in a warehouse until they needed them, then threw on the paint color they needed which caused the paint not to stick properly.

Okay so i got a coat of fiberglass reinforced filler on the roof last night, hopefully ill be able to get it sanded down tonight. After that i might do a light coat of filler to smooth anything out i need to and it should be ready to seal it after that.

So this is the progress for the evening. Got most of one side smoothed down and looking good. Should be ready for a glaze coat once the other half is finished

So this is the progress from last week and the weekend. Even got my son in on it. He really enjoyed sanding the roof down. Anyway I got the last skim coat of filler on it and am making progress to getting all the high spots out. Passenger side is pretty much done and have the bottom and side lines all nice and straight. Let me know what you guys think
