Did you try raising the trans out of the way and lineing up the frame holes? Because if you are saying that, disregarding the trans completely, the holes are still way off, then either the crossmember is wrong for that frame or something got tweaked. Is this the crossmember from this car? If not, what did it come out of? Could the car have been in an accident? I guess if nothing else works you could weld or bolt a plate to each end of the crossmember a to fit over the frame holes. I did that when the ends rusted right off mine. While I was at it I changed the location for the transmission mount so I could use the F body poly mount.
I am ignoring the trans when trying to install the crossmember. I just though it was odd that I can still bolt up the trans mount. The crossmember was from an 84 Cutlass Salon with a 3 speed trans, not sure if it was a 200 or 350 trans. We took the crossmember he sold me and mocked it up on a different frame and it fit perfect in the 350 spot on the frame. I really don't think my car was in an accident. I would be having many more problems besides the crossmember not fitting if the frame was tweaked that bad. Since I can get one bolt on each side bolted up and the trans mount bolted up, I will just leave it for now. It should be good enough to move the car around under its own power. When all the snow is gone, I will take a look at g bodies in the junk yard and see if I can find the differences with my frame compared to others.
