Fluid level is correct. Small leak at the kickdown cable. When I'm driving it will randomly downshift and I have to manually shift it down then back to drive and it will shift back to third.could it be a bad kickdown cable?

Well your TV cable controls the line pressure, so a leak could be detrimental. For the most part though the governor would control shift points. I would fix leak or replace cable and pop out the governor and check to make sure it is operating properly.

trans is a th350 i dont believe it uses a tv cable. how would i check the gov for proper operation?

on my 88 blazer i had the same problem and it turned out to be my 4th gear was slightly loose and slightly worn in the right place so when it would hit it just right it would kick back down to 3rd and i would have to shift down then back up to get it to go back in then it would last for anywhere to 1/4 mile to 5 miles before it would do it again. i would try what has already be advised then if having same problem might need to check the gear and probably replace it. after i have my gear replaced it was fine so maybe this will help
