Hello all well while I was out driving to school my car just started to shift from 1st to 2nd really really hard so I stuck my car into third and drove home now when I turned it off and back on it was fine my car is a 2003 pontiac sunfire just shy of 200k regular maintenance and a bit of spirit driving here and the is has a automatic. My guess is a speed sensor but what else could cause this?

No warrenty on a 2003 with almost 200k on er. LOL. First things first dude, scan er for codes and then from there checking the data stream. My be is pressure control sol. But u have to get er on the scanner,

No harm in trying....

Common Secret Warranty Refusals and Responses
1. You're too late.

Of course I am. You're late, too—in not telling me before that I had additional warranty rights, according to Lemon-Aid’s copy of your own service bulletin, which shows it’s your mistake. I wouldn't have been late if I had been told this extended warranty existed. Nevertheless, I will accept a pro-rata offer from you and the dealer that may be a bit less than what the original extended warranty program entitled me (I don't recommend you settle for less than a three-fourths payout shared by the dealer and automaker).
2. Mileage is too high.
Mileage has nothing to do with problem (i.e. paint). You cannot penalize me for your failure to notify me. Nevertheless, I will accept a pro-rata offer (again, I don't recommend you settle for less than a three-fourths payout shared by the dealer and automaker).
5. Doesn't apply to used vehicles.
Hogwash! Every manufacturer's "special program" or "goodwill" warranty extension includes subsequent owners. This is only logical since the original warranty follows the vehicle, not the owner. Most consumer protection statues reinforce this principle that the original warranty and subsequent warranty rights aren't lost when ownership is transferred. Owners should notify the automaker of a change of ownership, however, to speed up future claims.

you are right, when you don't ask there is no chance.

and I have 2003 Jeep that I bought used that has a recall on it for the rear mounted gas tank. I will get the dealer to install a trailer hitch which is the repair that Chrysler has implemented to protect the gas tank

so we hooked it up to the scanner at our shop and nothing came up other then our airbag code so i am going to go to our dealer tomorrow and see if anything pops up the car has been in our family since new my grandma passed it down to us

Years back I received a recall for my Malibu wagon. It was to replace the rear control arm bolts. They were alleged to crack. The car was way past it's warranty. I brought it in and they changed the bolts. I kept a record of it.

So I brought the car to the dealer turns o it was the valve body. So instead of just fixing it we are going to swap a manual into it since I am out of a car to drive a picked up a mk4 jetta gli for 400$ I went to the dark side for a bit.
