What manual transmission did g body cars come with. Possibley thinking of converting to a manual transmission. What do you think Bench seat 4spd.

From the factory, they were Saginaw 3, 4, and 5 speeds.
Not really the greatest choices for performance applications, though others are pretty easy to swap in.

The transmission I am looking to run is a kiessler and it will be behind a built rocket 350. how about the idea of running this with a bench seat.
The 5 speed was a Borg Warner T-50. No relation to the T-5. ALL of the factory manuals are pretty much useless in a performance application though. They are too weak. Even the T-5 is a marginal transmission and will not hold up to any serious power. For a manual you either need a T-56, some sort of Muncie, a T-10 or an aftermarket trans like a Richmond if you plan on making real power. You can get away with a T-5 in a street car if you keep it under 350 hp at the crank, but much more than that is asking for trouble.
