At least for my buddy's GTO, as long as you have the mechanical linkage and not the vaccuum linkage, you won't have any problems. And it did have benefits over the factory 4 bbl, from 325 hp to 348, in 1964. I've known him for a long time, and he's had the car since he's been 18, and it's never given him trouble.
 
I agree with the last few posts. Multiple carbs aren't really a high maintenance proposition. I fact, in my experience with multiples on inline engines they were even more trouble free than a single. If your single carb sinks a float or gets dirt in a jet -- you may not get home. If that happens to one of your multiples you have a better chance. It may not run well but at least you aren't stuck somewhere. I've run several Nissan/Datsun combinations with 2/3/4 carbs. On my B110 I fabbed an intake and rejetted motorcycle carbs. Once I had the jetting right it was absolutely trouble free. Never made a single adjustment in over 5 years.
