Trouble installing jeep steering shaft

And I didn't have to heat it up or beat the crap out of it to collapse it. One tap with my 4 pound hammer it collapsed. Put groove where the top bolt slides across shaft and your done. It's a 5 minute job.

I'm glad that you explained how you approached it.
At the time I did mine, they recommended using the Cherokee shaft, not the one from the Grand Cherokee.

with the issues regarding a Jeep shaft I'm glad I chose an Astro/Safari shafts. I have 2 Astro/Safari shafts, one for my Z box and one for my Borgeson box. The boxes each use different knuckle cause the Borgeson box is a Chrysler box.
 
I will be replacing my Jeep shaft with the Astro/ Safari shaft. The last time I checked, there was a few Astros at the junkyard...and I think a 2wd Blazer/ Jimmy that I may pull the spindles from.
