vortecs were 96 and newer, but 95 and older can be swapped to carb with a cheaper intake (although not the easiest to find). its from a 87-88 monte carlo, camaro/firebird, and so on as long as they have the centerbolt heads. f body and monte SS were aluminum.
the early 84-90 4 speed autos are 700r4, and after was electronic 700, then they went to 4L60.
if you have a running drivetrain with an electronic transmission you can swap it into your car as long as you keep it injected.
