trunk release help

You dont need a cable, some g-bodys had electric trunk release's.I got one off of a 4 door cutlass its just 3 bolts and one hot wire and the release button in the glove box.Should only take you about an hour to install it defintely a worthy upgrade.

I have one out of an 83 Buick LeSabre that I think should bolt right on if I'm not mistaken. Too bad it's in a storage unit 200 miles from me and every time I am there I forget to bring it home with me.

I'm planing on putting a cable to open the trunk as a back up if the electric trunk release fails since I'll be deleting the key cylinder....

You can get a "throttle control" cable, or a choke cable from most auto parts stores. I had to get one for my hood release and the ones in stock are usually not long enough to do the job, so like myself, you may have to get a longer one from their parts catalogue. They come in different sizes so measure your minimum required length first before heading out. The longer ones are around $50 or more.

Be sure to get proper, solid mounting hardware too that will hold the cable in place in order for the release cable to work right. In my case, I had some clamps left over from my door-popper kit that worked well.

A bit expensive but you might be able to use one of these:

I'm in the same boat as you. I've shaved all my door handles and locks and while I'll have an electric trunk release solenoid, I definitely want a manual release cable just in case the electrics fail.

I don't think it will be too tough. I was looking at my trunk lock today while I was cleaning out the barn. It almost looks like the factory had this in mind when they designed these.

On the one side of the lock you have the cylinder that you can fit a flat blade screwdriver into to pop the lock. However on the opposite side there is a lever that if you release it, the mechanism releases. There's also a slot in the housing right there that you'd be able to pass a cable through.

The biggest issue would be figuring out how to attach the cable to the lever inside the lock mechanism.

Oh, and I also found another emergency entry kit thats a little less expensive than the one above:
