For the topic poster, if you were able to "jump" the wire at the fuse box, then the wiring should be good from the trunk, the wiring runs along the driver side of the car and is accessable if you take out the rear seat. If the solenoid has failed, has corrosion on the contacts, or the wiring is broken somewhere, then you may have to use a long extension to remove the latch like already mentioned.
I have my trunk shaved and haven't had an issue in 5+ years with it. I just installed a new solenoid in the trunk and made sure all the connections were good from the start. Here's my trunk now so even pulling the back seat out wouldn't allow access to the latch since i have a speaker box under the rear shelf that has a panel attached to it that my spare is also up against along with a few other things in the way
