Take a look at this video if you are thinking about going with a tubular core support. If you want to lighten your ride, make more room for a bigger engine, a turbo, or better yet a pair of turbos. If you want to install a custom radiator, intercooler, or simply make it easier to get to the engine out of your car, this is for you.

To be 100% honest, I found myself wondering why someone would install this, but I realized it isn't so much for the enthusiast who wants a stock car. Its for the guy who is modifying his car. I installed all the stock stuff back on my car because I don't have the cash or need for an aftermarket radiator or intercooler yet. But I might soon and I really like the versatility the tube core support offers. For some reason I just can't bring myself to butcher a stock core support, but this means I won't have to.

Not the shill video I was expecting.

Adding all that metal back in starts to negate the advantages of a tubular core support. I would have added shrouding to the AC condensor and rad to aid in getting air across those heat exchangers.

not sure I understand your comment though.

"A shill, also called a plant or a stooge, is a person who publicly helps or gives credibility to a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with the person or organization."

I hope you mean by that it came off as trying to be as honest and true as possible. Because that is my aim.

I was torn about this product until I finished installing it. The largest problem I had with the core support was my application. I tried to make the core support fit a purpose it wasn't really intended for. I thought through the installation process I might switch my car back after doing the video. A. big problem was, I didn't install it 100% correctly which caused a couple problems by itself. I didn't know I did this until Alex from Trick Chassis pointed it out in the video. It made a couple of the things I did unnecessary, which will be evident to someone during the installation process. Now that I have it installed, I like it and I will not go back.

Another fact, but not really a problem, this is a new product for Trick Chassis. I have spoke with Alex at Trick Chassis about some minor changes and improvements. The next iterations should come out more tightly designed, with better installation kits, and with provisions for hood pins that punch through the stock hood adjuster pads. Another huge benefit for a track centered car. For someone with a stock hood like mine they can be sued for the stock hood alignment pads.

I apologize for not getting the difference in weights. Just from lugging it around I would say the weight difference is about 10 lbs with all the extra stuff I welded on to it. The real weight savings are from having the new core support in addition to: an aluminum radiator, fiberglass front clip, no steel bumper, no bumper brackets, no A/C, ect. Another benefit is the engine runs cooler. Those aren't even the primary benefits though. In my eyes, the primary benefits are: the adaptability, it opens up engine bay space, and the benefit of how easily the front clip could come off if I needed to do so. In fact I might do a follow up video and time how fast I can remove the front clip.

Why did you feel the need to define a noun for me? That is just weird... it is almost like you are insinuating that I do not know what the hell I am saying.

When the video starts there is a TRICK banner on the wall - that stinks of subjective product placement. Then there is the TRICK banner over the windshield -that stunk even worse of an ad. But, then you started to show the shortcomings (some of which you created for yourself) which renewed confidence in what you were doing, and it was an honest assessment of the product. Overall I enjoyed the video. However, you may want to open with a disclaimer that you are not being sponsored and the video isn't monetized (unless it is).

And yup, it is still a race car part.

I defined “shill” for me, and anyone else who might not know what it means, because I 100% had no idea what it meant. That is why I didn’t understand your comment. I didn’t intend to insinuate you didn’t know what it meant. I sometimes over explain in videos I do as well, some make the final cut and some don’t. I assume if I didn’t know something, maybe there are others who also dont know. That definition is from when you inadvertently taught me something new by forcing me look it up. Sorry I caused any confusion.

I take your comment as a compliment because that outlook is what strive towards. Thank you.

What did you do wrong with the support durring the install? Do you know what the support weights by itself?
