I think on a '85-87, the fuel line/return are together on the passenger side, the charcoal canister is on the driver side.

On my '86, the fuel supply & return are both on the passenger side.

The cartoon in the Buick Illustrated parts catalog seems to show that, with the charcoal canister line running down the driver side, but its a cartoon.

In my '86 (SBO) the charcoal canister is also on the passenger side FWIW.

If it a metal line on the passenger side I would bet that it is a return line. Post some pics of the fuel pump and canister areas

On a 3.8 car the fuel line runs on DS and goes through the frame...the return and vent line run on PS and tie in with the brake line along the engine cradle to get them to the DS.
