My daughter is coming for a visit from Australia and she accompanied by her boyfriend who I have never met. So we sent a few messages making plans and this is her last message....

"I'm just excited for you to beat my better half!"............

ummmm does he swing both ways?? Does he have a kinky side?

Reaction time, or quarter mile? You'll have to spot him a few tenths since the shifter is under the wrong hand.

I forgot about that, they drive on the left...but he is safe, I don't drag race. I don't think my daughter would need my help to beat him though if it came down to it. I taught her a bit about boxing when she was a little person and she plays rugby in Australia...I plan to take a boat trip over to Australia so I can take my GP with me. Apparently my car would not be permitted in Australia if I lived there, they have strict rules about modifications and you need DOT approval....

The phones we use these days are more powerful than yesterday's desktop pc's but most people will never use them for anything but hastily scrawled txt messaging and facebook. That would be badass if AU let you drive the GP during a vacation stay. I doubt most of them have ever seen one in person. They're probably tired of over hearing americans calling the Holden Monaro a GTO by now though.

I met him and he survived. They had just landed in BC after the long flight from Australia when my daughter sent me that text. With the flight and the time difference they were exhausted so I can't fault her for the typo. It was good for a laugh last nite and my son's football team won the semi final so it's all good.

At one point, I had a delusion I might order a Chevrolet SS and I wrote to GM to inquire whether I could pick it up at the Holden factory near Adelaide, then drive it around the country for a month before dropping it off for shipment. Kind of like BMW or Volvo European delivery. No reply from GM. Apparently, I am the only such lunatic. But I found a manual G8 GXP for sale locally, and then had a business trip in England the same year. Driving my manager and colleagues around in a RHD manual diesel Mazda 6 station wagon. So I kinda got some of the dream. Not the same as touring the Great Barrier Reef, the Emerald Coast and the Outback in my own car...

Enjoy your exotic family!

Holden is shutting that plant down in 2017 and the rest of the car manufacturing industry doesn't look good in Australia. I drove them back from the game last nite and he was impressed with my car but said it would never be allowed on the streets in Australia....🙂
