Uh, about EV battery fires ....

The only people who hold your position are people afraid of discussing the possibility. The dissenting opinion is a threat. They called a number of things conspiracies last year, only to find them to have substance.

I believe the new term is "safe news". It's not fake, just filtered.

But, you keep calling names.

“Discuss the possibilities” all you want. try and prove whatever “substance” you think there is. But not here.

whoops didn’t mean to hit submit just yet.

If insurance is willing to write it off and let you out of your mistake I'd say let em!

🤷‍♂️ I guess. Unless you’re an “enthusiast” and would rather see something save-able be saved instead of just sent to the yard.

(Looks around at all of us keeping pos 1980s malaise iron alive… and back up the thread decrying something about recycling etc ad infinitum.)

Anything that remotely encroaches on your ideological "safe space" gets your attention, eh? That's weird, no?

You literally paint me as a crack-pot because it challenges your beliefs. Despite my clear position of contention being directly with the lack of preparation for the technology. The audacity you have is impressive.

This topic (going back to the original post) is very much an economics-centric subject (someone stands to benefit), with a clear political nexus (which everything seems to have as government grows and grows), as it involves both money and power/control.

Simply put, I don't appreciate being coerced into a poorly thought-out or executed decision - that removes my free will from the equation. Especially when it is for profit. Dying in an unquenchable chemical fire is pretty f*cking scary. We have obligatory airbags, why not chemical fire suppression systems?

But, I guess I can walk everywhere in 15 years once EVs are mandated (rented/leased not owned) and not participate in a social credit system by living in the woods? Then I just have to deal with the wolves I can actually see.

Not a flame war! These are harder to put out than an EV battery fire!

Ironically, conspiracy theories emerge from the sense that you have no power.

But conspiracy theories always start with a grain of truth, and that grain of truth always contains money in some form. This makes it difficult to separate political issues from other issues. The apples and oranges are difficult to distinguish in the juice that comes out of the blender.

On the other hand, that juice does make for a nice morning reset ....

Be grateful you might have such an opportunity (sarcastic part of the thought may be.)

Down here in the lower 48 we wouldn't be allowed such a choice. Probably get arrested for harassing the wolves, and choking off the trees insert-your-hippie-dippie-ideology-here.

Me, I keep finding myself in situations where other people have different priorities than I do, and this creates difficulties in things I want to do. Depending on which side of the bed I roll out of, it can be hard to resist spinning such situations into paranoid conspiracies. But it starts from the simple fact that I can't do everything myself, so I lack total power. Getting anything done at all means working with the situation rather than against it, which means adapting my priorities to those other priorities, even to the point of doing triage on mine. This is not easy, but you have to be practical.

(Another Manifesto Deleted)

Just knock it off with the political and conspiracy junk. I thought that was made pretty clear during the last 15 mo or so. If you're talking about some "truth that the mainstream is keeping hidden" then its probably a conspiracy theory. That's literally the definition.

You post like someone who believes the garbage CNN churns out at face value. The thing with a a conspiracy theory is that it has to sound crazy or else the masses will believe it. Can't be having that. It looks like plenty of foul play is afoot. What pans out remains to be seen, but to ignore is, well, plain ignorance. You don't have to pick a side, but to dismiss it at the get go just seems close minded. And I don't feel the connections made with the great reset and electric cars are all that far off either. Any "smart" device can be chalked up as "intellectual property" and therefore denied the right to repair. Have you noticed how many more needless things have become "smart"? The writing is on the wall, and we're farther down the rabbit hole than we realize. What will be will be, but I'll keep driving old dumb crap for as long as I feasibly can.

For the Stanley Steamer cars, I think they lost their customer base as:
  1. to allow enough time to build-up the correct steam pressure, you had to light the boiler ~30 minutes before you had to leave
  2. although more fuel-efficient than an ICE of the period, you still had to periodically stop to refill the water tank ... and I'm guessing varying water purity wouldn't help matters while it'd be inconvenient to haul with you a separate tank of suitable water resupply

Steamer cars could only run at high throttle for short periods before running out of steam and needing to rebuild pressure.

As for the great reset, this sums it up.
