UNCLE NEEDS HELP WITH 71 camaro frame

My uncle has a 71 camaro with a rusty subframe. But He has a 78 Pontiac subframe....can he interchange them? Can other subframes be used? Or is he doomed to buy another camaro for a frame

70-74 and 75-81 Frames similar the difference is the location of he rear body mount holes

70-74 body shells require the use of 70-74 Xmembers, the floor pan does not allow the clearance to fit the 75-81 Xmembers.

70-74 frames have small diameter lower control arm bolt holes, requiring the use of early control arm bushings

Is the 78 complete with suspension??

If so just drill new mount holes

Ya. he has the complete frame w/suspension on his 78 pontiac. But the 71 camaro needs frame and all floor pans are cashed. He thought he could just swap out quick and get it running to maybe sell. 1971 half. Split bumper z28.

Yes it will fit .I have a 1979 Z-28 RS myself .both are second generation F- bodies

My understanding was that there were also differences in the front bumper mounting area for 74+ due to the change in bumper laws
